Jared Says for February 2000

J-Red wants your bulk paper items! This month's topic is on my want list and which items are of particular interest to me. My wants are split into two parts:

  1. Items that I am looking to buy to re-sell
  2. Items of personal interest to me.

For resale I'm interested in mainly paper items from the pre-1950 time period that relate to a specific historical periods, for example, W.W.II, 1930s depression era, etc. Also, items related to specific themes such as advertising, sports, personalities, events, organizations, hobbies, travel, games/toys, transportation, music, the arts, and so forth. Just about any topic of general interest. My preference is to buy in large quantities or complete sets (full years of vintage magazines, for instance) instead of individual pieces.

Most of my buying connections have been personal andI have been fairly lucky in buying in finding bulk collections of items, especially if I can get into a house in the early stages of clean-out, before the more interesting things end up in the dumpster because of the owner's perception of "no-value".

If you are cleaning out an attic old in eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or southern New Hampshire, let me know - I can help in finding item with value and buying in bulk saving you time and effort.

If you have bulk items or complete sets of items to sell, please let me know what type of items, dates, how many, condition, and price.

Items that are of personal interest are:

  1. 78" records of country & western "hillbilly", blues and jazz, and any items, especially photographs, of these singers
  2. Gene Autry. I have numerous records of his, but will purchase early releases on Bluebird and Brunswick.
  3. Any sheet music, promotional, and commercial items are needed. Also the same for the original Jimmy Rodgers and Hank Williams.
  4. Military Patches
  5. Scrapbooks of early travel and/or correspondence

I Appreciate any help you can give me.
