Jared Says for July and August 2002
New York City is a wonderful place to visit. I am very
lucky that my wife works there several days a week and
has an apartment in the Village.I go there 3/4 times a
year for long weekend.
NYC has always been a part of my life. I lived just north
of the City in Westchester County and as a teenager I
used to go to rock 'n roll shows at the Paramont Theatre
and other cultural events. Later on I learned the value
and scope of what the City had to offer when I was stationed
at Governor's Island at the tip of Manhattan for awhile
and taking my family on day trips when I was unemployed.
One could spend a reasonable day going to the Bronx Zoo,
Staten Island Ferry and dinner in Chinatown. Now as a
returning visitor it has given me the opportunity to see
and eat at places that was out of my reach before.
It is a place that has every type of entertainment whether
it is art, music, museums restaurants or sports. What
I like best are the restaurants. There is every type,
diversity and price range available. My typical weekend
includes a couple of museums, a play, two food experiences
and a return to several local favorites one of which is
always in Chinatown. If you are going I would suggest
that you reference NEW YORK and TIMEOUT magazines. ZAGAT
is a great restaurant guide. Get yourself a subway map
as that is the best way to get around. Have fun!
Good Picking!
