This
was the best World Series in a long time with two unexpected
teams dueling it out. There were other surprises in the playoffs
as well especially having the Twins win their divisional title.
Looking back to my predictions in April I picked the Giants
as the most improved team in the National League. They put
together an outstanding year, but I did not think they would
be in the Series.
The biggest surprise was the Anaheim Angels. They put it
all together with a nice combination of rookies, young players
and veterans. It is too bad that Gene Autry, one of my heroes,
was not around to see this.
He was not only a long time owner, I think from 1960-91,
but a big baseball fan as well. No one thought bad of him.
I have to admit that one of my favorite players this year
was David Eckstein. I saw him play in the Red Sox farm teams
of Lowell and Pawtucket and thought that he had promise to
be their next second baseman. The Sox thought he was too
small and traded him to the Angeles and he put up great numbers...296
B.A. and was known as a hustler whenever he played.
So now no more baseball until the spring. Do you think that
Montreal will play on a temporary basis at Fenway Park? Stayed
tuned.
Good Picking! -Jared
