Jared Says for February
1999
Jared Says is where Jared will talk about his experiences,
interesting items, or whatever peaks his interest each
month. This month Jared talks about how the J-RED
got going on the web.
"This is my initial venture into PC selling. Previously, I
sold via my pickers network. It's organized on 3X5 cards containing
wait-lists from people all around the US and Europe. An all paper
system of personal connections."
"Later, through the prodding and support of my son and friends
that I purchased a PC and started this web site to make it easier
to reach the people I deal with and for new people to get introduced
to me and my collectibles."
"In the fall of 98 I went to my 40th high school reunion. I had
such a good time that I decided to add a section to the
J-RED
site for my classmates!"
"My intent for Jared Says is to pass on experiences,
both mine and others, that may be helpful in your buying or selling.
I am lucky to live in the heart of picking capitol of the USA: New
England. Picking is good here because of two things: attics
and basements. Home owners have space to store and forget all kinds
of things for years."
"The challenge to me in the collectibles business is the buying;
finding the items and purchasing them at the right price. Buying
as well as selling tactics will be discussed in future Jared
Says postings."
"I would like to thank Stephanie Sullivan, the owner of AVIA!
web design and hosting for taking my web concept to
the current state of fruition and providing consulting and training.
I'd like to thank Don and Cathy Mastrovito (www.papercat.com
an excellent paper collectible web site) for support and
information on using the resources of the internet and on my computer.
They all gave me invaluable encouragement and training. Thank
you!"
